Knee Surgeries

Arthroscopy (Keyhole Surgery)

Arthroscopy is the key-hole surgery of joints. It is extremely useful in treatment of knee injuries especially sports and ligament injuries. Through tiny skin incisions, the interior of the knee joint is visualised with a very thin telescope and using precision instruments various procedures to repair the ligaments and cartilage are carried out.

Treatment & Care Details

Ligament Reconstruction

Treatment Details

Arthroscopic ligament reconstruction restores stability to the knee after ligament tears. Using minimally invasive techniques, the torn ligament is reconstructed with graft tissue (hamstring or patellar tendon), allowing patients to return to sports and active lifestyles.

ACL Reconstruction

Treatment Details

ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) reconstruction is one of the most common sports surgery procedures. The torn ACL is replaced with a graft through arthroscopic technique. Anatomic reconstruction with proper tunnel placement ensures excellent stability and long-term outcomes.

PCL Reconstruction

Treatment Details

PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament) tears often occur from dashboard injuries or heavy falls on the bent knee. Arthroscopic PCL reconstruction uses graft tissue to restore the posterior stability of the knee joint, preventing long-term cartilage damage.

MCL & LCL Reconstruction

Treatment Details

MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) and LCL (Lateral Collateral Ligament) injuries affect the side-to-side stability of the knee. While many MCL injuries heal with bracing, severe tears and LCL injuries may require surgical reconstruction to restore full stability.

Multiligament Injury

Treatment Details

Multiligament knee injuries involve damage to two or more ligaments and represent a complex challenge. These severe injuries require careful staging of reconstruction to restore comprehensive knee stability. Dr. Varandani specializes in complex multiligament reconstruction.

Patella Dislocations

Treatment Details

Patellar dislocations occur when the kneecap slips out of its groove, often causing damage to the MPFL ligament. Recurrent dislocations require arthroscopic MPFL reconstruction to stabilize the patella and prevent future episodes. Proper alignment correction may also be needed.
